Battleship
Play Battleship. Position your fleet on the grid, fire on enemy waters, and sink every rival ship before they sink yours.
Overview
A miss is just as informative as a hit, and that single idea is what keeps Battleship interesting. The game is the classic naval guessing duel translated to the screen: you position a fleet of ships on your secret grid, then trade shots with a computer opponent across two mirrored waters. Each turn you fire on a coordinate. If you hit, you know a ship is there; if you miss, you know one is not, and the grid of possibilities shrinks by one tile. Sink every enemy vessel before the computer sinks yours and you win. It is a game of deduction rather than action, and a single match is short enough to fit between tasks while still rewarding careful targeting. The naval theme is flavor — the real game is pure logic, played one coordinate at a time.
How to Play
Positioning happens first: place your fleet on your grid, then the enemy fleet is hidden somewhere on the opposite grid. To fire, click a cell on the enemy grid with the mouse, or tap a cell on touch devices. The game marks the result — a hit or a miss — and the computer then takes its own turn firing at your waters. There are no keyboard inputs to manage; the whole game is pointer-driven, and a single click or tap is all an attack takes. The interface highlights where you have already fired so you do not waste turns repeating cells. Win by sinking every enemy ship before the computer clears yours.
Tips & Strategy
Space your shots out at the start. Until you land a hit, the fastest way to find a ship is a search pattern — firing on every other cell in a checkerboard works, because no ship is one tile wide, so you will eventually clip something. Once you land a hit, switch to sweeping the adjacent cells, since ships sit in straight lines and you only need to find the orientation. Confirm both ends of a struck ship before you move on, because a partial hit can leave a vessel afloat and quietly wasting your turns. Watch your own fleet placement too: clustering your ships makes them easier for the computer to chain once it finds one. Spread them out across the grid, and avoid the predictable corners where opponents love to tuck a vessel.
