Neverball

Tilt the floor to guide a ball through challenging 3D obstacle courses.

Overview

You do not move the ball in Neverball — you move the ground beneath it. Tilting the floor sets gravity pulling in a new direction, and the ball rolls in response, gathering momentum exactly as a real sphere would on a real slope. That single inversion of control is what makes the game feel unlike most arcade titles, and it is the source of both its satisfaction and its cruelty.

Each course is a small 3D challenge: a path of platforms, ramps, bumps, and hazards leading to a goal, with coins scattered along the way and a timer counting down. Collecting coins extends the clock, which ties your route to your time budget — grab too many and you risk a fall, skip them and the timer runs cold. Rolling feels physical: the ball accelerates downhill, fights to climb, and carries inertia into every turn, so finishing a level means thinking in slopes and momentum rather than directions and buttons.

How to Play

Tilt the floor with the arrow keys (or the mouse) to roll the ball, and press space to pause. Tilting forward pulls the ball away from you, tilting back draws it closer, and left and right roll it across the field. Guide the ball along the course, gather coins to add time to the clock, and reach the goal pad before the timer hits zero. A fall off the edge costs you the attempt, so the edges of each platform matter as much as the path itself.

Tips & Strategy

Make small tilts, not large ones. Because the ball builds momentum, a hard tilt sends it sliding past the turn and often off the edge; gentle, early adjustments let you steer through corners instead of chasing the ball after it has already run away. Anticipate stops: begin levelling the floor before the spot where you want the ball to slow, since it keeps rolling while you correct.

Treat coins as a route, not a bonus. Plan a path that sweeps through coin clusters on the way to the goal, since the time they add is what funds the rest of the run — but weigh each detour against the risk of an edge. On ramps and slopes, tilt into the incline early to carry speed up, and ease off near the top so the ball does not launch uncontrollably off the far side. When a level feels tight on time, replay it once to learn the geometry; the fastest line is almost never the most obvious one.
