Word Scramble

Unscramble the jumbled letters to form the correct word before time runs out.

Overview

Letters tumble into a jumbled heap and a sixty-second clock starts counting down the moment they settle. Word Scramble is a speed puzzle about recognizing words hidden inside an anagram. Each round presents a shuffled set of letters, and the goal is to reorder them into a valid word before time expires. The word bank runs past a hundred entries, so the answers stay varied across runs, and the pressure comes less from any single scramble than from the compounding demand to solve one after another within the same minute. A streak system rewards consecutive correct answers with a score multiplier, which means momentum matters as much as raw recognition — a player who solves three in a row quickly outscores one who solves the same three slowly and out of order. A hint button is available but costs points, so the decision is when to spend them rather than whether to. High scores persist locally, giving each run a target to chase.

How to Play

Type your answer into the input field and press Enter to submit. On touch devices, tap the input to focus it and use the on-screen keyboard to spell the word. Correct guesses advance to the next scramble and add to your streak; incorrect ones leave the same letters in place so you can try again. Click the hint button to reveal a nudge toward the answer, at the cost of five points. The round ends when the sixty-second countdown reaches zero.

Tips & Strategy

Scan for common prefixes and suffixes first — endings like -ing, -ed, -er, and -tion, or openers like re-, un-, and in-, often anchor the rest of the word. Vowels are the spine of most English words, so locate the A, E, I, O, and U early and consider which consonants sit naturally beside them. Short words are faster to confirm, so when two plausible answers compete, commit to the shorter one first to keep the streak alive and the multiplier climbing. The hint costs points but also costs time to read, so reserve it for genuine stalls rather than the first flicker of doubt — momentum is the real currency of a long run. Build a streak early and protect it: the multiplier turns ordinary solves into large scores, and breaking the streak is more costly than any single hint. Watch the clock, not the letters, when time runs short.
