Overview

A grid of letters fills the screen, and somewhere inside it a list of words waits to be found. Word Search is the most relaxed of the word puzzles — untimed, low-pressure, and built around steady visual scanning rather than speed. Each puzzle drops a list of target words alongside a grid, and the task is to locate every one of them hidden in the letter field. Words run in every direction: horizontally, vertically, diagonally, and backwards, so a sequence that seems absent might simply be running the wrong way through the grid. Finding a word is a matter of pressing at the first letter, dragging across to the last, and releasing; the highlight confirms the match and crosses the word off the list. Because there is no clock, the pleasure is in the hunt itself — spotting a word half-cocked in the corner of the eye, or working through a stubborn cluster of letters until a hidden term finally resolves. Cross every word off and the grid is complete.

How to Play

Click and drag across the letters of a word to highlight it, starting on the first letter and releasing on the last. On touch devices, tap and drag the same way. The highlight locks in when the dragged sequence matches a word on the list, and that word is then crossed off. Words can run in any of eight directions, including diagonally and backwards, so the drag may go up, down, left, right, or along any diagonal line. Work through the list until every word is found.

Tips & Strategy

Scan for the rarest letters first. Words containing Q, X, Z, or J stand out against the field, and finding one distinctive letter is often enough to anchor the whole word. Work from the list rather than from the grid — pick a word, then sweep the grid for its first letter, because hunting without a target tends to waste time on letters that form nothing useful. Check all eight directions for each starting letter, since backwards and diagonal words are easy to miss when you scan in only one orientation. Long words are paradoxically easier to spot than short ones because their letter sequences are more distinctive; knock them out early to clear clutter from the list. If the grid is dense, look for letter pairs that do not commonly sit together — a stray vowel next to an unusual consonant often marks the start of a hidden word. Take breaks; the eyes tire faster than the brain does on a long grid.
